Disney World ..... "Hurricane Dorian" ...
UPDATE: Orlando International Airport has now Announced that they will not be canceling flights on “Monday” September 2nd, and the Air Port will be operating as usual!
Orlando International Airport has announced that it will cease flight operations early Monday September 2 due to the approaching Hurricane Dorian.
In a statement from the airport:
...Out of an abundance of caution, Orlando International Airport would cease commercial flight operations on Monday morning, September 2, 2019 at 2 a.m. Passengers should check with individual airlines for flight information and schedules.
“Hurricane Dorian has strengthened and slowed. Our plan currently is to run full operations through Sunday,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “We don’t know exactly where Dorian is going but we do know that it will have a significant impact on the entire state of Florida. So in order to allow the airport’s 25 thousand employees time to secure their homes and families we feel it is prudent to cease operations in a timely fashion.”
“GOAA greatly appreciates those airlines that have proactively started to adjust their schedules,” says Tom Draper, Senior Director of Airport Operations. “Tracking this storm, as to landfall locations and timing, continues to be a challenge and we greatly appreciate the collaboration and partnership that benefits our passengers and employees.”
